Course Content

Intensive Care Medicine Course Content
This online intensive care course consists of 10 modules. Each module is divided into a number of easily manageable training sessions. The training sessions takes around 20 to 30 minutes each to complete. Topics within modules include the operating theatre environment, basic science and equipment, patient assessment, induction, post-operative management and incident management Further modules also provide an overview of the general aspects of clinical intensive care medicine that are not specific to a particular disease or patient group – e.g. organ support and nutrition & fluid therapy. The learner will then have access to a number of diseases that present to a critical care unit. They give an overview of pathologies, which have been classified by medical and surgical specialty, such as cardiology, paediatrics, gastrointestinal and renal (for instance). Modules on infectious diseases, trauma resuscitation, injuries and major incidents), requesting further diagnostics and monitoring follow on, with the programme concluding with topics such as patient safety, clinical governance and other ‘non-technical’ skills.
